2015 National GP champion, Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin has long kept his dream of representing the country to compete in the Thomas Cup, which will be held this May in Kunshan, China.

Last year saw great improvements from the 25 year-old compared to his other compatriots as the successfully secured three winning international championships in Singapore, Poland and Switzerland. The triumph was treated was a platform for Iskandar to be considered for the Thomas Cup slot.

A hamstring injury prevented Iskandar from qualifying for the Cup and he thought of the incident as rather devastating.

“This year, I hope to be able to qualify for the Thomas Cup and play at the tournament. At the same time, I’ll try my very best to stay away from injuries,” Iskandar told Utusan.

“I hope that BAM (Badminton Association of Malaysia) would give me a chance and that last year’s achievements will help me to make my way to the Thomas Cup.”

Thomas Cup qualifying rounds will take place in India and commence in February 12 to 21.
