Dawn of new era for women’s hockey in Malaysia?

The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) will be introducing an all-new Women’s Teen League Championship 2016, beginning 19th February till 10th April.

The introduction of this league brought them a lot of encouragement and support from 14 clubs involving 9 states.

“MHC is determined on improving the performance of women’s hockey in Malaysia while increasing the number of female hockey talents in the country,” said George Koshy, the Vice President of MHC to Sinar Harian.

“I am very happy that this championship is getting a lot of support from the 14 clubs. The encouragement that we are receiving is on par with our mission of increasing the standards of women’s hockey within the country,” he said during a press conference in the National Hockey Stadium, Bukit Jalil.

The champions of the tournament will receive a cash prize of RM15 000 while the winners of group stage will each receive RM5 000.
