Nicol David sent packing in quarters of Windy City Open

World No. 2 Datuk Nicol David failed to advance to the semi-finals of the 2016 Guggenheim Partners & Equitrust Windy City Open in Chicago, United States of America yesterday.

The 32 year-old was eliminated by Egyptian Nour El Sherbini 9-11, 10-12, 9-11 in just 36 minutes at the University Club of Chicago.

This marked her second defeat of the year after losing to Nour El Sherbini in the semi-finals of the Tournament of Champions (TOC) in New York in January.

Meanwhile, Nour admitted it has not been easy to overcome Nicol, despite beating her twice.

“Going against Nicol is extremely difficult. I have to push myself to the limit against her. I tried not to overthink today, but just play. I’m grateful I won all three sets,” Nour El Sherbini said on the windycityopen.ussquash.com website, as quoted by Berita Haria.

The Egyptian will face World No. 1 Laura Massaro in the semi-finals of the Windy City Open.
