Japanese PM Shinzo Abe receives Olympic mandate in ‘Ma-Rio outfit’!

The Rio Olympics finally came to an end earlier this morning, after two weeks of sensational sporting displays with the occasional brilliance from the world’s most renowned Olympians.

Despite the constant security and hygienic concerns that have to be dealt by the organisers, they can breathe a sigh of relief as the world’s largest sporting event ended without a hitch in its traditional closing ceremony.

Much is expected from an event of this magnitude, with brightly-lit performances reflecting the culture of the host nation, alongside the customary fireworks display.

Japan, being the host of the next Olympics has also played a part in the ceremony, with a video highlighting their most famous pop cultures in the vicinity of Tokyo’s vibrant city.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was present to receive the mandate and he did it in style by dressing up as Japan’s most recognizable icon, Super Mario.

The Land of the Rising Sun might be known with some of the weirdest marketing concepts in Asia, but it’s fair to say that they have hit it right on the spot this time.

Bring on Tokyo 2020!
