Mario Gomez to replace OKS as Malaysia’s new head coach?

Just a day after it was appeared that Tunku Ismail would most likely be contesting for the top job at Football Association of Malaysia, an interesting hint has been dropped on Johor Southern Tigers’ Official Facebook page.

Two hours before JDT’s crucial Asian Champions League tie against Gamba Osaka, the club’s social media team posted a photo of Tunku Ismail and former JDT boss Mario Gomez with a rather interesting caption.

“HRH Brigadier General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Crown Prince of Johor, and future national head coach Mario Gomez wishes all the best to Johor Darul Ta’zim FC (JDT) in this evening’s match against Gamba Osaka. Luaskan Kuasamu Johor,” the post read.

Of course, the FAM election will only take place in March, and with Tan Sri Annuar Musa also confirming his intentions to compete for the post, TMJ hasn’t quite secured the job yet. That said, he is undoubtedly the heavy favourite to win it, given the amount of FAM affiliates that were present at the Bukit Pelangi Palace yesterday. This also means OKS will be removed from his role, should TMJ be confirmed as the next president.

More to come…
