Kedah FA wins contract dispute over Rizal Ghazali

Football Association of Malaysia have confirmed that Rizal Ghazali is legally attached to Kedah and will be eligible to continue playing for the Red Eagles this season.

According to the Kedah Football Association’s (KFA) Facebook page, the pre-contract agreement signed by Rizal to play for FELDA United has been deemed invalid by FAM. However, Rizal was still found to be guilty under article 1(7)(d) and has been fined RM 25,000.

Kedah FA’s Shahrul Samsudin, who was present at FAM’s headquarters in Kelana Jaya today, was delighted with the outcome of the case.

“We (KFA) accept this decision and as far as the other details are concerned, we’ll just wait for the FAM status committee to release a statement,” Shamsul told Berita Harian.

A similar dispute happened back in 2015, where Gary Steven Robbat allegedly signed a contract with Johor DT, Kedah as well as Pahang. He was eventually allowed to join JDT, but was handed a RM50,000 fine as well as a three-month ban from all football activities.
