Vettel’s Ferrari deal to likely mean a McLaren return for Alonso

Fernando Alonso is said to be considering a return to McLaren in 2015, where he spent one turbulent season, following Sebastian Vettel’s expected arrival to Ferrari.

The two-time world champion and McLaren’s team head honcho, Ron Dennis, has however denied that a deal is already in place to bring Alonso back. The McLaren seat is deemed to be widely desirable right now, as the team is expected to get a new Honda engine next year.

Although the Spaniard is the only top driver currently available on the market, Dennis reportedly also has his eyes on Mercedes’s Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, should their relationship continue to deteriorate. Between them, the duo have won 12 of this season’s 15 races, and its pretty much set that either one of them will win the driver’s title, with the other finishing second.

Their rivalry however is said to have become so heated, following the incident where Rosberg admitted to purposely crashing into Hamilton on the second lap of the Belgian Grand Prix, an incident that likely cost the team a valuable win.
