NBA warns players against using “3 goggles” gesture in Brazil

NBA has sent a warning to the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers to not use the common “3 goggles” celebration gesture, during their preseason game in Brazil this Saturday (October 11th).

The gesture, which a number of NBA players use in the United States to celebrate hitting three-pointers, is considered highly offensive in Brazilian culture.

According to reports, the league is trying to play it safe by keeping teams informed of cultural differences, to avoid offending fans and others. The warning memo had a list of other questionable gestures, that the team players were advised against using in Brazil as well.

The Heat and Cavs meet tomorrow (October 11th) at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at 5pm ET.
