Cilic claims fourth title of the year

Marin Cilic slammed Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4, 6-4 for the Kremlin Cup title, marking his first title win since claiming his maiden Grand Slam championship at the US Open six weeks ago.

Cilic also became the second Croatian champion in Moscow, following coach Goran Ivanisevic’s triumph back in 1996.

The US Open winner also became the fifth to qualify for the season finale at The O2 in London, following the release of the Valencia Open 500 draw.

He could finish in the Top 7 of the Emirates ATP Race To London, or he will be the highest-ranked 2014 Grand Slam champion to finish between 8th and 20th, and therefore would be able to claim the eighth and final spot.

Cilic will next take part in the BNP Paribas Masters in a week’s time, while Bautista Agut is seeded sixth at the upcoming Valencia Open 500, which kicked off today.
