Red Bull blocks Vettel’s request for early release

Sebastian Vettel has hinted that his hopes of being released early was being blocked by Red Bull.

Earlier this month, the Formula One outfit confirmed that the four-time champion would be leaving and its team principal, Christian Horner, claimed Vettel would be making a switch to Ferrari. Neither the driver nor Ferrari have yet to confirm the news.

It then emerged that Vettel would not be released by Red Bull, until five days after the closing Grand Prix of the season in Abu Dhabi on November 23rd. That would likely cover the final three-day test scheduled at the Yas Marina Circuit from November 25th-27th.

In an interview at this weekend’s US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, Vettel reportedly diverted the attention to the race, when questioned about joining Ferrari. He then told reporters he was “not allowed” to do the test for any team after the final race in Abu Dhabi,  adding that “there are reasons for that that anyone can understand”.

The 27 year old later assured that he’ll definitely announce plans for his future, once everything is confirmed.
