Chong Wei allowed to make guest appearances – BWF

World Number 1 shuttler Lee Chong Wei, who has been suspended for failing a doping test, will be permitted to make a special appearances in certain events, according to the Badminton World Federation.

The Malaysian prime shuttler was initially scheduled to play an exhibition match against arch-rival Lin Dan of China, at the Badminton Thai Glory to the King tournament.

However due to his suspension, BWF has barred him from the match. According to Thomas Lund, BWF’s secretary general, Chong Wei could include a demonstration of technical skills but he will not be allowed to feature in any activity connected to a competitive match during the event.

Khairy-Jamaluddin

Meanwhile, Malaysian Youth and Sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin said that he would not be interfering in the feud between Chong Wei and Razif Sidek.  Chong Wei recently announced his decision to take legal action against Razif Sidek on grounds of defamation; something that Khairy see’s no reason for him to have a say.

“I have told Chong Wei that he can take whatever action if he wants. I did not encourage or discourage him to take any action against Razif because this is a personal matter.” said Khairy Jamaluddin.
