No plan to discipline Dante Cunningham, says NBA

The NBA says it has no plans to discipline Dante Cunningham, in the aftermath of his dropped domestic assault charges.

“We have commenced an independent review of the matter and the charges that were subsequently dropped against Mr. Cunningham, but at this point we have no basis to conclude that he engaged in conduct that warrants discipline from the NBA,” spokesman Mike Bass told Yahoo Sports in an email.

Cunningham worked out for the New Orleans Pelicans over the weekend and signed an agreement yesterday.

The 27 year old has been working to clear his name with NBA execs, following a domestic-assault arrest in April in Minneapolis for an assault on his then-girlfriend.

The charges were eventually dropped after police found that his accuser’s story included falsehoods.

Cunningham was unsigned through the summer, and will finally return to the NBA with the Pelicans.

He has played five NBA seasons, including stops with the Blazers, Timberwolves, Memphis Grizzlies and Charlotte Bobcats, averaging 6.2 points and 3.9 rebounds in his career.
