Vietnamese fans targeting Safiq Rahim on social media

Malaysia’s national football player, Safiq Rahim has become the latest target of angry Vietnamese fans on Facebook and Twitter, following the chaos that erupted after the Suzuki Cup first leg semi-final at the Shah Alam Stadium.

Several upset Vietnamese fans vented their anger on social media, to express their feelings over the unsportsmanlike conduct he portrayed during the game, as well as the violence that broke out after the match.

This, after a group group of Malaysian fans attacked the visiting fans after the home team’s loss on Sunday, and photographs of the attack, which left several Vietnamese supporters injured went viral shortly after.

Safiq’s Twitter and Facebook was blasted by hate comments, among them warning Harimau Malaya to be careful when they face Vietnam in the second leg at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi.

There were however, several positive comments and feedback from Vietnamese and Malaysians fans alike, which helped restore our faith in humanity again 🙂

Also, here’s our open letter to Vietnam football fans. Let’s all unite for the love of the sport- good luck to both teams for the second leg!
