Chong Wei hearing unlikely to happen this year

The new hearing date for Lee Chong Wei’s doping case would likely be known only after the New Year.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said, with Christmas just around the corner, most sports officials in the West would be on leave.

This means the hearing is unlikely to happen this year.

Chong Wei’s hearing was initially scheduled for December 8th but was postponed following the Badminton Association of Malaysia’s request for Chong Wei’s lawyer, Mike Morgan, to be given more time to prepare his case.

The world number one tested positive for the banned substance dexamethasone at the World Championships in Copenhagen back in August, and he now faces a maximum two-year ban depending on the outcome of the hearing.
