Malaysia to host Women’s World Squash Championship for next three years

The Women’s Squash Association (WSA)  has announced that Malaysia has been given the privilege of hosting the Women’s World Squash Championship for three consecutive editions, starting from this year.

According to Managing Director of Hallmark Events Group Simon Arnold, the decision to select Malaysia was primarily motivated by their track record and experience in organizing prominent tournament. Besides that, it’s also the home of two big names in women’s squash, Nicol David as well as Low Wee Wern.

This also means that Malaysia would be the first country to ever be given the rights to host for three consecutive years.

“They have a very strong tradition in squash and hosting the World Championship for the next three years will continue to build on this legacy,” Arnold said in the statement issued by the WSA.

“Furthermore, the next generation looks in good hands following the gold medal success of both the boys and girls in the recent Asian Junior Team Championship,” Arnold added.

The tournament will accommodate the top 23 players from the WSA World Rankings and eight players, depending on who makes it through the qualifying rounds.
