Perak 2-3 Terengganu: Goals galore in Ipoh as Turtles seize victory

Perak and Terengganu played out a hugely entertaining affair in Ipoh last night, with five goals being scored on the day, alongside plenty of fantastic chances as well.

Both sides faced each other in the FA Cup last Tuesday, with the score being 1-1. This fixture was expected to be equally tight as well, but the tempo of the game got stretched and both sides were equally diligent in exploiting loopholes.

Perak got the game off to a better start, teasing the boisterous home crowd with some sensational movement and spreading of play. Their due diligence paid massive dividends as Namkung Woong broke the deadlock on the 21st minute, scoring his fourth Super League goal of the season. More importantly, the goal was assisted by Jamaican striker Horace James, who was making his debut for the Seladangs.

Terengganu pushed hard, with Rangel spearheading the movement upfront, but within the first 45 minutes, they were unable to gain any tangible breakthroughs.

After the break though, Terengganu started getting into the game and they eventually got their coveted equalizer on the 64th minute as Bikana produced a decent header to put the ball into the back of the net and make it 1-1.

10 minutes later, they seized the lead. Issey Nakajima, who was making his second ever appearance, manufactured a fine cross into the box, allowing Ismail Faruqi to head home and make it 2-1.

But the Seladangs refused to give up, and they restored parity 83rd minute. Chad, who was brought on by Karathu to further add firepower into the attack, fired home from within the box to make it 2-2.

However, their joy was merely temporary as Helmi Remeli headed home just two minutes later to make it 3-2. But here is where a twist happened. One minute later, Perak were awarded a spot kick, but Chad Souza’s attempt was saved brilliantly by Sharbinee as the Turtles held on to claim valuable three points.
