Munich Open: Murray knocks Zverev out

British number one Andy Murray is through to the last eight of the Munich Open after easing to a comfortable win over Germany’s Mischa Zverev.

The 27-year-old who is playing under newly appointed coach, Jonas Bjorkman for the first time, defeated the German with an easy 6-2, 6-2 consecutive set victory.

The newly wed showed no signs of slowing down from his short break when he sent Zverev packing in an hour and 15 minutes.

“It wasn’t too easy,” Murray was quoted as saying by the BBC.

“He had a different style to most other players and it was tricky playing against a left-hander, but I got the important points. He was returning from a long way back.”

“My forehand went better than my backhand, but it was a good first match for me.”

Murray, who is ranked number 3 in the world, will next face Czech Republic’s Lukas Rosol, who downed Sergiy Stakhovsky in the second round.
