French Open: Murray downs Kyrgios to book fourth round spot

Australian Open finalist Andy Murray has secured his slot in the fourth round of the French Open after securing a key win over Nick Kyrgios earlier today.

The match was tipped to be a close affair, considering Kyrgios’ reputation of doing well in major Grand Slams, but Murray was extremely comfortable in his game, securing a 6-4 6-2 6-3 win on straight sets.

Despite Kyrgios excellent form during the game, in which he even produced a superb lob from between his legs, the Australian was guilty of up to 37 unforced errors during the game.

“I watch him quite a lot, so you go on the court expecting the unexpected,” said the Scot. “You just have to be on your toes at all times and try to be ready for something different.

Murray will next face France’s James Chardy, after the home favourite secured a win over Belgian David Goffin.
