Twitter reacts to Sepp Blatter’s resignation as FIFA President

Football fans, feel free to rejoice!

Last night, Sepp Blatter shockingly announced his decision to step aside from his post as FIFA President, despite winning it for the fifth consecutive time days ago.

With the ongoing corruption scandal continuously tearing into FIFA’s reputation as football’s governing body, Blatter announced his decision in a press conference yesterday, claiming that his victory hasn’t been received well by most stakeholders within the game.

“My mandate does not appear to be supported by everybody,” he said. “The next ordinary Fifa congress will take place on 13 May, 2016 in Mexico City.

“This would create unnecessary delay and I will urge the executive committee to organise an extraordinary congress for the election of my successor at the earliest opportunity.

“This will need to be done in line with Fifa’s statutes and we must allow enough time for the best candidates to present themselves and to campaign.”

While the press conference was relatively melancholic, every other individual across the globe rejoiced in delight, with Twitter exploding as usual, providing some amazing response to the news!
