SEA Games: Malaysian synchronized swimmers claim silver

The Malaysian synchronized swimmers were pleased to win a silver medal for the nation despite being defeated by the hosts, Singapore in the SEA Games yesterday.

The squad, comprising of Katrina Ann Abdul Hadi, Foong Yan Nie, Gan Zhen Yie, Gan Hua Wei, Lee Yiat Lum, Kwong Zhi Kei, Zylane Lee Hying Huey and Tasha Jane Taher Ali could only manage to pile up a record of 146.5204 points.

The bronze medal was handed to Indonesia who recorded 138.1796 points whereas the gold medalists, Singapore recorded 150.8445 points.

Team captain, Katrina Ann claims that she and her team mates had done their very best and were satisfied with the results as Singapore was a tough opponent.

“Based on the number of competitions we had participated, the result was expected. Syabas to Singapore,” said Katrina Ann.

Assistant coach Png Hui Chuen had expected the results and was not disappointed.

“This team was formed only last year and we need to work on certain areas to improve. Our main target is the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur.”
