SEA Games: Malaysian divers secure two gold medals

The national divers have managed to secure two more gold medals yesterday in the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore.

Ooi Tze Liang presented a flawless display of skills when he dominated the 3 metre springboard final with 473.55 points.

This was the second gold medal for Tze Liang as he had recently won the men’s 10m synchronized platform final with his partner Chew Yi Wei on in the same venue on Saturday.

As Tze Liang was at the centre of the podium with his gold medal, Indonesia’s Ahmad Sukran Jamjani was granted silver with 381.00 points whereas Singapore’s Mark Lee Han Ming was given bronze with points 349.25 points.

Another Malaysian diver, Muhammad Syafiq Puteh stood sixth place among the eight contenders as he could only manage to amass a total of 336.15 points.

Nearly two hours after Tze Liang’s triumph, the national squad bagged another gold medal through the 10m synchronized women’s platform final, courtesy of duo Leong Mun Yee and Traisy Vivien Tukiet.

The pair collected 306.66 points, taking a vast lead ahead of silver medalists Singapore who scored 238.59 points and bronze medalists Thailand who made it with 222.12 points.

The national squad will be aiming for two more gold medals in the 3m synchronized women’s springboard through Nur Dhabitah Sabri and Ng Yan Yee and also the 10m men’s individual platform participated by Ooi Tze Liang and Chew Yi Wei.
