Diego Maradona confirms his run for FIFA president

Argentinian football legend, Diego Maradona, is set to run for FIFA presidency, following the resignation of Sepp Blatter.

Recently, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro had called for Maradona to take his place.

The former star would need to persuade five of FIFA’s member associations to nominate him and then pass an integrity check.

Victor Hugo Morales, a Uruguayan journalist and close friend of Maradona, tweeted that the Argentinian had stated his wishes to become a candidate to become the new President of FIFA.

“He told me that, he wants to run for FIFA presidency and gave me the permission to spread the word out,” said Morales.

“Diego Maradona will be a candidate for the president of FIFA”

“Diego Maradona chose to fight the corruption of #FIFA and is now running for president to make a change”

“I called Diego Maradona to check on his father. He then told me he is going to run for president and authorized me to inform everyone”

“If Platini and Figo can be candidates for FIFA presidency, what limits are there for Diego Maradona?”

“‘I’M A CANDIDATE’: were the two words DIEGO MARADONA told me when I consulted him about the nomination for FIFA presidency”
