Malaysia to host 128th IOC session

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre will be the venue for both the International Olympic Council (IOC) executive board meeting and the 128th IOC session from July 28th to August 3rd.

“The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) is proud to be chosen as host of the 128th IOC Session. Even though we could not afford to host the Olympic Games, hosting a prestigious meeting is also an honour to the country,” OCM honorary secretary Datuk Sieh Kok Chi told Bernama.

The 128th IOC session will determine the host city of the 2022 Winter Olympics as well as 2020 Youth Olympics.

Almaty, Kazakhstan and Beijing, China are the candidates to host the 2022 Winter Olympics after Oslo withdrew while Lausanne, Switzerland and Brasov, Romania will be competing to host the 2020 Youth Olympics.

Many sport activist and IOC executives will be attending the meeting, and the final result will be determined and will be aired live.

“The announcement of the bidding results will be aired live throughout the world.” Kok Chi concluded.
