Indonesian Taekwando athletes win two gold medals in Korea

The Indonesian Universal Taekwando (UTI) Pro team was made proud when 3 men and 3 women participants of their own successfully won 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals in the Korea Open Chuncheon International Taekwando Championship, from 24-27 July 2015.

Two gold medals came from the kyorugi (sparring) event, contributed by Nuni Revani Siregar in the -57 Kg women category and Ririn Agustina in the -67 Kg category.

“In the final Nuni Revani Siregar beat fellow competitor from Kenya, while Ririn outperformed Mongolia’s representative,” said coach Rizal Syamsir as stated in Pos Kota news.

Fernandez Brazilio Hay and Siti Aulia Rahma, on the other hand, won silver medal in individual senior event and also in the couple’s senior event, partnering with Danny D Harson.

Fernandez and Siti Aulia Rahma are newcomers in the UTI Pro squad, who are making their debut simultaneously at an international level.

Head Coach Lam Ting was quite satisfied on the positive progress: “This is a great achievement, considering we brought back two gold, silver and bronze medals out of six events.

Developer of YUTI / UTI Pro Grand Master, Lioe Nam Khiong welcomed the achievement of UTI Pro team at the Korea Open, stating that the growth is parallel to the vision they had and a prove they have been going in the right direction.

“The UTI Pro Competition and trials should not be broken because it aids to the athletes in improving their technique when facing an opponent,” he added.

In addition to sending six athletes and coach Rizal Syamsir, UTI Pro also included an international referee, Rahadewineta, who received an invitation from the organizing committee of the Korea Open in Chuncheon. This event featured 802 athletes from 72 countries.
