World Championship will not be easy for LCW – Hendrawan

National badminton coach Hendrawan has reaffirmed that any expectations placed on Lee Chong Wei, ahead of the upcoming World Championship, needs to calculated fairly.

Chong Wei’s return to competitive action seems to have restored fans faith in the local badminton scene, and many are already tipping him to shine impeccably in Jakarta next month.

While Hendrawan remains positive of getting Chong Wei prepared for the tournament, he insists that the journey would not be as easy as many expect it to be.

“When Chong Wei’s name comes up, everyone expects him to be in the final,” Hendrawan was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.

“But this time around, it’ll be slightly different. Based on the draw, things do look positive. But you’ve got to understand that the World Championship is different compared to a Super Series event.

“He has to focus and take each match as they come. And of course, we will discuss together on how to best manouever past these obstacles,” he added.
