Lin Dan: I will do everything to beat Chong Wei

China’s Lin Dan has indicated that the rivalry between him and Chong Wei will have no space for sentiments as both individuals prepare for the possibility of taking on each other at some point.

Chong Wei and Lin Dan have shared a rivalry that’s regarded as one of the most competitive ones within the sporting world, and specifically badminton. However, Chong Wei has never clinched the World Championship title, despite being regarded as one of the most celebrated players within the sport.

But with both individuals reaching the latter stages of their career, Lin Dan hinted that he has no intentions of making it easy, and is determined to savour every single duel that comes their way, considering that there are not many of them left in the pipelines.

“The age factor is the same for me and Chong Wei, it’s increasing,” Lin Dan said, as quoted by Harian Metro.

“After this, there won’t be much opportunities for me to face him, which is why I intend to give everything I have and make full use of every opportunity to go against him,” he added.

Both men cleared their first hurdles comfortably yesterday, with Chong Wei beating Lithuania’s Kestutis Navickas 21-9, 21-13, while Lin Dan downed USA’s Sattawat Pongnairat 21-8, 21-11.
