World Championships: Indonesian duo annihilate Amelia-Soong

Malaysian women’s doubles pair Amelia Anscelly and Soong Fie Cho are out of the World Championships after they were thrased by Indonesian duo Nitya Maheswari-Greysia Polii.

The bout was expected to be a close one, though the Malaysian pair were ultimately given a badminton lesson by Maheswari and Polii.

Buoyed by a loud home crowd, Maheswari and Polii were in control from the get-go as they rallied hard to claim a 21-11 win in the first set.

Amelia and Soong were expected to push harder in the second set, but the Indonesian duo were just too hot to handle, as they swiftly wrapped thing up by claiming yet another 21-11 win to book their spot in the semis.

The defeat comes a crushing blow for Amelia and Soong, who were both on fine form just yesterday, when they took out top seeds, Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi from Japan.
