And he wants his players to keep the momentum going as they will face far superior Super league teams in the prestigious competition next month.

“I hope my players will maintain their focus in the Malaysia Cup. Looking at the depth of my squad, I believe they have the strength to challenge other teams. Having said that, the players have to show their ability and determination in order to prove their worth in the team,” he told Harian Metro.

One of the instrumental players in Kedah’s triumph season is striker Chidi Edeh, who scored two goals in the 5-1 victory over DRB Hicom in the final round of matches at Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

The Lagos-born Nigerian centre forward is their top scorer with 11 goals, adapting well in his maiden season with the Red Eagles.

“It has been a wonderful first season. I’m in a great condition to score goals and help my team gain victories.”

“We have been working hard since last November, and we’re delighted to have won the league and qualify for the Super League. I think we are ready to be facing teams better than us,” he added.
