OCM must focus on developing NSAs – Khairy

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin believes that the newly appointed office bearers of Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) would help the ministry in organizing the best ever SEA Games in the year 2017.

Last Saturday, Tan Sri Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja’afar managed to retain his presidential post at the recent OCM Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Tunku Imran will be supported by Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM)’s deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria, who edged out former deputy Tan Sri Mohamad Noor Abdul Rahim.

In conjunction with that, Khairy therefore urged the OCM to assist and strengthen a number of National Sports Associations (NSA) that are weak, in terms of management and finances.

“Some NSA’s are always seeking funds from the ministry. I hope that throughout the 2015-2017 term, the OCM will focus more on developing these NSAs,” he told Bernama.

Khairy also added that there would not be any problems on his side to work together with the OCM, especially OCM President Tunku Imran.
