Malaysian diving team turn on the style in Taiwan

The Malaysian diving team sent warnings to their rivals after they performed admirably at the Taiwan City Cup Invitational Competition to clinch 10 gold medals

Wendy Ng won the gold in mixed synchro springboard with Mohd Syafiq Puteh, besides adding another to her list in the 3m springboard.

It’s worth mentioning that Ng’s victory comes after she and fellow diver Pandelela Rinong secured their Rio spot, earlier this month.

Back up coach Yeoh Ken Nee said the divers wrapped up the competition in the best way possible.

“Our main focuses today were on the juniors. Some of them have the potential to become world class divers.”

“This is their second international meet after the Singapore Invitational competition last March, and all of them did well,” he told the Malay Mail.

The other gold medallists include:

  • Kam Ling Kar – 1m springboard
  • Traisy Vivien Tukiet – platform
  • Muhammad Syahmi Mohd Rezal – platform
  • Hanis Nazirul Jaya Surya – 3m springboard
  • Syafiq – Open 3m springboard
  • Jellson Jabilin – 1m springboard

The golden synchro teams of Nazirul-Syafiq (men’s 3m) and Jasmine Lai-kam Ling kar (women’s 3m) also won gold.
