National rider Norizman dedicates Buriram victory to Malaysia

Norizman Ismail gave the perfect 58th Independence Day gift for the country after winning the second race of Underbone 130cc category at the fourth round of the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) FIM at the Chang International Circuit, Buriram, Thailand.

The Y-TEQ SCK Honda Racing rider finished eight laps of the race with a total time of 17.37 minutes to beat the winner of the first race, Gupita Krishna Wardhana from Indonesia, who is representing Manual Tech KYT Rextor.

Norizman has now narrowed the gap to 33 points in the overall standings, despite finishing 10th in the first race due to an engine problem.

“I dedicate this victory to my whole team and to Malaysia. With all the political and economic issues going on, it feels good to contribute something positive at this time,” said Norizman, as quoted by Harian Metro.

“This week’s race was challenging. We came to Thailand with high hopes but brought down after unexpected problems in the first race.”

“We had to take a risk after that, and it was surprising that my engine was compatible and helped me win the race.”

When asked about his odds of winning the title, Norizman added: “I have to claim as many podium positions as I can, profitably ahead of Gupita. Then only I have a clear chance during the final rounds in December.”
