“Dhabitah is capable of beating my record” – Pandelela

National diving queen Pandelela Rinong Pamg believes that fellow diver Nur Dhabitah Sabri is capable of performing above expectations and at the same time overcome her own record in the process.

Nur Dhabitah won the gold medal in the 10m women’s individual platform event during the recent Asia Cup, recording a personal best 383.10 points in total. She also qualified to next year’s Rio Olympics, taking her place alongside Pandelela in the same event.

And the 22 year-old Sarawakian could not be proud enough, stating that Dhabitah is talented enough to even beat her own record of 385.00 points, provided she is given enough exposure.

“I’m truly excited about Dhabitah’s performances. Nobody would have guessed that she will prevail over the divers from China, but she took her chances well and added points.”

“The point difference also helps me push myself towards working harder, in facing better competitors,” she told Sinar Harian.

The end of 2015 Asia Diving Cup saw Nur Dhabitah and Ooi Tze Liang join Pandelela and Wendy Ng in confirming their place for Rio Olympics, with more divers expected to follow their footsteps.
