Nafiizwan stuns top seed in Macau Open

National squash player, Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan created an upset as he knocked out top-seeded Omar Mosaad in the quarter-final of the Macau Open in Centro de Bowling, Macau, yesterday.

It was a hard-fought victory for Nafiizwan as he needed 75 minutes to beat the Egyptian 7-11 , 11-4 , 11-8 , 6-11 , 11-7.

“Today (yesterday), I’m glad with the way I play. I have been preparing mentally and physically for the game,” he said to Harian Metro, yesterday.

The win means he will face another Egyptian, sixth seed Fares Dessouki in the semi-final today.

Fares also progressed to the semi-final after coming from behind to beat the third seed Borja Golan of Spain 9-11 , 9-11 , 11-4 , 11-8 , 11-7 in the game that lasted 98 minutes .

Mohd Nafiizwan has won a single title so far this season at the New Zealand International Classic in June.
