AFC Women’s Futsal: Malaysia ‘prepared’ for Hong Kong test

Malaysia got their AFC Women’s Futsal Championship off to a positive start after sealing an impressive 9-4 win over Uzbekistan yesterday.

Playing in front of a decent crowd in Nilai, Malaysia broke the deadlock on the 15th minute, scoring through Norhawa Yasin before Farayihah Ridzuan doubled it merely 60 seconds later.

Shazreen Munazli then made it 3-0 on the 24th minute mark and while the away side reduced the deficit through Makhliyo Sarikova a minute later, Malaysia added their fourth goal through Usliza Usman to make it 4-1.

Norhawa netted Malaysia’s fifth goal on the 27th minute, before a blitzkrieg move from Uzbekistan allowed them to score three consecutive goals through Yusupova, Sarikova as well as Sankora.

With the score being 5-4 at this point, Malaysia eventually had the last say as goals from Farahiyah, Fatin Sahida, Norhawa and Farahiyah allowed them to seal a comprehensive victory.

This victory sets them up nicely for their second game against Hong Kong today, with kick off slated for 4.30PM

WHAT DO WE THINK?

It’s always nice to get your tournament off to a good start and they certainly did that yesterday. It was also fantastic to see them effectively kill the game, especially when Uzbekistan narrowed the score to 5-4 at one point. Malaysia were clinical in front of goal in this match, and it will be crucial for them to continue being that way, when they take on Hong Kong later today. A victory will be major boost for their hopes of making it to the quarter-finals!
