Malaysia U19 gear up for AFC U19 qualifiers

Four Frenz United players and two M-League based players has been called up by Malaysia Under 19 coach, Hassan Sazali Waras ahead of their AFC Under 19 Championship 2016 qualifying round in Jiangsu, China from Oct 2 to Oct 6.

Malaysia U-19 is largely represented by Harimau Muda C and they will be strengthen by four Frenz United players – Aizat Mukhlis, Izaffiq Ruzi, Amirul Muhamad, Danial Amier Norhisham while two other players from M-League teams – Ash Hameed from Real Mulia and Safawi Rasid from T-Team, have also been called up.

Hassan said he will need a brand new strategy this time as he feels that this tournament will be even more challenging than the AFF U-19.

“In the AFF U19, we managed to find some problems in the defence so that is why we are bringing in a few new faces for this tournament.

“Since there is only a two-day gap in all the three matches scheduled, we don’t want to take a risk,” he told Metro.

Two Harimau Muda C players, M. Kogileswaran Raj and S. Thipanraj are out of the tournament due to an injury that was picked up during a 3-0 friendly win over UiTM FC, yesterday.

Meanwhile R. Dinesh has returned to the squad after missing out on the AFF U-19 Championship last month due to an injury.

Malaysia U19 will begin their qualification campaign in Group I this Friday against the host China before meeting North Korea on Oct 4 and Macau on Oct 6.
