“It’s good that they are coming. The government welcomes the arrival of FIFA to Indonesia. That was what we requested and we guarantee government support.”

“We will convey all of the problems in Indonesian football, and hopefully in March 2016 our problems will be solved,” he said, as quoted by Tempo.

He also added that he expects the FIFA delegation to form an investigative team, with will lead to a desired committee to act as a mediator.

FIFA and AFC delegation’s plans to visit Indonesia comes under the purpose of lifting the ban on their national team. Because of these sanctions, the Indonesian national football team have not been able to participate in international games.

WHAT DO WE THINK?

It’s about time that the Indonesia government and FIFA start taking this issue seriously. Football is one of the top sport in the country and it would be a waste to let the national team rot by the stands, watching other countries progress as time passes by. Besides affecting the players and coaches, the country’s economy is also troubled by the absence of the regular football events on an international level. Hopefully both parties will reach to a positive agreement that will see Indonesia back in football again.
