Ooi Tze Liang in race against time to be fit for Worlds

National diver, Ooi Tze Liang is hoping to recover in time ahead of the FINA Diving World Cup that will be held in Rio de Janeiro, next February.

The 21-year old is currently recovering from a tibia (shin bone) injury and is only carrying out light training.

But Tze Liang remains optimistic for the time being and he is refusing to let the injury distract him from his goal of doing well in the tournament.

“My focus for now is the World Cup. I just need good rest, proper physiotherapy sessions as well as light training routines.

“I hope I will recover in time and go on to do well in the tournament,” he told Arena yesterday.

Tze Liang will travel to China alongside Ahmad Amsyar Azman, who will partner him in the synchronized diving 3m springboard, for a training program before the tournament.

The SEA Games gold medalist will also be the only Malaysian in the men’s category in two events; the 10m platform men and the 3m springboard men.
