Moto3: Adam Norrodin to replace Zulfahmi Khairuddin

Sepang International Circuit (SIC) has confirmed that the Moto3 rider, Zulfahmi Khairuddin will no longer compete in the World Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) and will be replaced by young rider, Adam Norrodin.

The 17-year-old will be racing for Drive M7 SIC Racing and will be partnering Jakub Kornfeil, who has signed a new contract for next season.

SIC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Datuk Razlan Razali said he is satisfied with the overall performance of the Drive M7 SIC Racing team in their debut season and hope it will continue next season with the new faces.

“Zulfahmi is an experienced rider and has competed in various levels. So we’ll be using him as a mentor for young riders.

“Now we have selected Adam for the World Championship next year while Jakub Kornfeil will remain with the team since he did such an amazing job. We didn’t expect him to be on the podium in Silverstone recently and we are happy with the team’s performance this season.

“Adam made us proud too, he managed to get third place in Asia Talent Cup (ATC) this year,” he told Utusan.

Meanwhile, Adam was delighted that his childhood dream of competing in the MotoGP has now materialized.

“I can’t thank SIC enough for giving me this opportunity. Racing in MotoGP is my dream.  I have been racing since the age of seven, competing in the Motocross until I was 12 years-old.

“Zulfahmi has always been my idol. He taught me a lot about the world of motorsports.

“This is a major breakthrough for my career. Though I am replacing Zulfahmi, I hope he will continue to guide me in the Moto3 race next season,” he added.
