Former world number one Lee Chong Wei is through to the quarter-final of the China Open after battling through to defeat Chou Tien Chien of Taiwan on three sets, winning 21-19, 15-21, 21-12.

The victory now means that Chong Wei will be taking on current world number two Jan O Jorgensen from Denmark in the quarters, after the Danish star defeated Gou Kai 21-19, 21-19 to move into the last eight.

Should Chong Wei claim a win over his Danish counterpart, he could potentially set up a mouthwatering semi-final clash against arch nemesis, Lin Dan. National singles’ coach Tey Seu Bock on the other hand, believes that Chong Wei needs focus on beating Jorgensen for the time being.
