Malaysian squash player Nafiizwan Adnan has been sent packing from the World Men’s Squash Championship after suffering a second round defeat in Seattle, United States, yesterday.
The 29 year-old, who recently clinched the national championship, went down to Egyptian Omar Mosaad in five sets, losing 7-11, 12-10, 11-4, 8-11, 1-11.
But Nafiizwan was gracious in defeat, claiming that the defeat will not deter his hopes of doing well in his next tournament, the Hong Kong Open.
“A defeat is always a defeat, even if it’s a close fight,” he told Harian Metro.
“I dominated the game at certain points but it’s just that I was a little too eager to finish the match. I couldn’t improve on my record in 2013 and 2014, but this is definitely not the end.
“I have to be strong, fix my weaknesses and enhance my game. Maybe one day, there’ll be another opportunity for me,” he added.
Nafiizwan will be flying hom next week, to prepare for the Hong Kong Open as well as the Men’s World Team Squash Championship, which will be taking place from December 12 to December 18.
