We have to help LCW triumph in Rio – BAM

The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) is openly welcoming opinions from all viewers, including former players, to help the nation’s superstar Lee Chong Wei clinch a gold medal at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics next year.

According the BAM’s Vice President, Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria, it is absolutely crucial for the nation to show their support for Chong Wei and try their best to help him achieve a gold medal for Malaysia.

“Looking at how Chong Wei is doing so far, it’s not that we think that it’s easy to win the gold medal but we want to try our best to help him do so,” he told Harian Metro.

At the same time, we welcome opinions from everyone especially national badminton legends  and the Sidek brothers to give their suggestions and aid.

“They (Chong Wei and the national men’s singles’ squad) do need an additional coach because Hendrawan and Tey Seu Bock will be 100 per cent dedicated to take care of Chong Wei. The additional coach should be internationally recognized  because he is also in charge of searching for the ‘next Lee Chong Wei’.”

“Starting next January, all the top directors will be discussing with BAM’s technical director Morten Frost in the Podium Program in order to help Chong Wei prepare for the 2016 Olympics.”

Norza Zakaria has also prepared championship programs for Chong Wei because the world number three will not be participating some of the tournaments.

Day before yesterday, Chong Wei’s former coach Datuk Misbun Sidek had urged all parties to come together and help Chong Wei triumph in the Olympics next year.
