NSC’s Ahmad Shapawi urges athletes to stay humble

Malaysia’s success at the SEA Games this year – 62 gold, 58 silver, 66 bronze – is considered a great achievement. Not only that, the national paralympic athletes’ brilliance in the ASEAN Para Games (APG) also made a grand impact.

However, Chief Director of the National Sports Council (NSC) Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail urged all players to not be too satisfied with their results in order to strive for more.

Ahmad Shapawi also claimed that the “Transformasi Sukan Negara” introduced by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin this year was very effective.

“The elite, senior and junior training programs carried out this year saw cooperation from all parties,” said Ahmad Shapawi as quoted from Harian Metro.

He also stated that young athletes such as Goh Jin Wei, Badrul Hisyam Abdul Manap, Nur Dhabitah Sabri and Wilson Sim managed to prove that the nation had not run out of fresh athletes.
