Frenz U18 International Cup 2015

The third edition of the Frenz U18 International Cup 2015 will begin simultaneously in Palembang, Indonesia and Kuala Lumpur on the 3rd of January 2015, Saturday.

This time around, Frenz U18 International Cup 2015 will be of high qualitied material with bigger European and Asian clubs going into action over the next 12 days.

English clubs Tottenham Hotspurs and Liverpool FC will be involved with the Frenz International Cup 2015 which has found greater admirers across Europe with the likes of Valencia CF (Spain), Porto FC (Portugal), Feyenoord (Holland) and Besiktas FC (Turkey). South America is represented by Estudiantes FC from Argentina and Brazil’s SC Internacional.

Former Argentina and Red Devils midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron is the president of four-time Copa Libertadores winners Estudiantes FC, and together with Frenz United Technical Advisor, Steve McMahon, a former England and Liverpool midfielder, are Ambassadors of the Frenz U18 International Cup 2015.

J-League clubs Gamba Osaka and Kashima Antlers represent Japan, Guangzhou Evergrande carry China’s aspiration, and India’s AIFF’s U18 also joined the fray.

“As Asia’s premier youth football tournament, the Frenz International Cup has seen its rise from a humble beginning of 8 teams competing in 2013, expanding to 11 in 2014 and now 16 teams for the 2015 competition,” said Dato’ Noor Ihsan A. Hamid, President of Frenz United Football Academy, at a press conference in Kelana Jaya.

“I will certainly not be wrong in my assessment to say that the Frenz International Cup 2015 is now only the second biggest tournament afterthe World Youth Cup. It will continue to grow in years to come with the grand support we have received from all over as well as from our sponsors and partners,” added Dato’ Ihsan.

In Group A, Frenz United Indonesia has for company Liverpool FC, Guangzhou Evergrande and Feyenoord FC while SC Internacional who finished third last year, are drawn in Group B with Chonburi FC, Kashima Antlers and Valencia CF.

In Kuala Lumpur, PVF Vietnam, Besiktas JK, Gamba Osaka and FC Porto are drawn to play in Group C while hosts Frenz United Malaysia will need to put up a gallant display and live up to the club’s motto of ‘Glory … Be To The Brave’ as they entertain Hotspurs, Estudiantes FC and India U18 in one of the hottest and toughest Group D matches in the tournament.

The stadium that will host Group A and B matches will be held in Stadium Gelora Sriwijaya and Stadium Madya Bumi Sriwijaya in Palembang.

On the contrary, Group C and D preliminary round fixtures will be held in Shah Alam Stadium, UiTM Sports Complex in Shah Alam and Maybank Sports Complex in Bangi.
