Tsonga forced to quit inaugural Grand Slam of the year

World number 12 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has officially withdraw from the upcoming Australian Open due to an injury, which officially means that he’ll be having a delayed start to the new season.

The former Australian Open finalist has been battling an arm injury for almost a month now, which caused him to pull out of the Hopman Cup as well. The 29 year-old posted a photo of his injury on Twitter as well, claiming to be extremely disappointed with the fact that he has to miss the first Grand Slam of the year.

The Frenchman also included more information in his personal site, saying that he has been suffering from a forearm inflammation which is an intersection syndrome; which will stop him from giving a 100 percent in terms of his capacity in a competition.

“I’m going to receive all the needed treatment over three weeks, to be able to get back on track in the best conditions.” the world number 12 added.
