It’s official! After weeks of speculations, Manchester United have finally confirmed the signing of ex-Barca goalkeeper Victor Valdes on an 18-month contract. He officially joins as the second ranked goalkeeper behind David De Gea and will certainly provide more than adequate back-up for Louis van Gaal’s squad.
“Manchester United saved me,” – That was his initial statement in an exclusive interview with MUTV, claiming that the club helped him recover through his injury efficiently. He then went on to add that David De Gea is the best goalkeeper in the world as of now. Those statements indicate a couple of things. Firstly, it shows that he indebted to the club and that he’ll be doing his level best to help the club progress but more importantly, he recognizes the role of De Gea within the team and that he’s keen on consistently challenging De Gea in training sessions, to keep the 24 year-old on his toes.
