Amelia-Soong clinch Indian Open title

Malaysian women’s doubles shuttlers Amelia Alicia Anscelly and Soong Fie Cho secured the 2015 India Open Grand Prix (GP) Gold title after defeating commonwealth champions Vivian Kah Mun Hoo and Khe Wei Woon in an all Malaysian final.

The world number 32 pair managed to wow the crowd with their exceptional performance after defeating the favorites with a 22-20, 21-15 victory in just 49 minutes.

This is a massive turnaround for the pair, who were knocked out by India’s Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnapa in the second round of the competition last year. This time around, the Indian pair were sent packing by Amelia-Soong in the semi finals.

This triumph is also the biggest achievement in their professional career thus far and as champions, they’ve also secured cash prize worth US$9,480 (RM34,133).
