El Hadji Diouf urges Sabah teammates to ‘improve’

Sabah FA forward El Hadji Diouf claims that his fellow teammates at the club have to increase their tempo and maximize their potential ahead of the upcoming season of Malaysia Premier League.

The former Liverpool forward is currently undergoing pre-season preparations with the Borneo-based side and they have certainly showed signs of visible improvements in recent friendly matches, particularly the 1-1 draw against Sime Darby.

But while Diouf thinks the chemistry between players is getting stronger, there are several other issues to be sorted if they are to make a strong impression in the league this year.

“Our performance is certainly improving, and it was visible in the friendly against a Super League side the other day,” he told Harian Metro.

“But there’s a lot to be improved on. The other players need to work harder in order to reach attain their best form and I still think they can improve significantly.”

Sabah have been in a bit of turmoil recently after manager George O’Callaghan was sacked for disappearing without any notice. His appointment was already a massive surprise to begin with, and despite their best efforts to recruit Datuk Ong Kim Swee, it now appears that Justin Ganai will be in charge of the team this season.
