Cleveland Classics : Nicol David lifts first title of the year

Eight-time world champion Datuk Nicol David has secured her first title of the year after clinching the Cleveland Classics in Ohio earlier today.

She defeated Egypt’s world number two Raneem El Weilily 11-5. 11-9, 11-4 to complete a morale-boosting win, which is also a symbolic one considering that Nicol suffered a frustrating exit at the quarter finals of TOC earlier this month.

Besides that, her appearance in the final also means that she has now competed in 98 different finals, and has won 79 of them.

Having cemented her place on top of the world rankings, Nicol will next compete at the Windy City Open in Chicago at the end of this month.
