World Track Championship: Azizulhasni secures bronze medal

National cycling icon Azizulhasni Awang managed to secure a bronze medal in the keirin event at the 2015 World Track Championship.

The five-time Asian Championship gold medallist fought hard to overcome Germany’s 2009 world champion Maximilian Levy to secure the third place but was unable to defeat Francois Pervis, who claimed the title, with Eddie Dawkins coming in second.

Azizul, who is more commonly known as the ‘Pocket Rocket Man managed to bag his third career medal at the World Track Championship; he had secured two silvers in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

Besides Azizul, Josiah Ng also participated in the same event, though he failed to secure a spot in the final. And this would also mark Josiah’s last appearance in an international competition, with the seasoned cyclist opting to retire from the sport after this.
