Namkung was excellent against LionsXII – Datuk M. Karathu

Perak head coach Datuk M. Karathu sang praises of South Korean attacker Namkung Woong, who played a pivotal part in their 2-2 draw against LionsXII last weekend.

The 30 year-old was initially a doubt for the game after he was admitted into the hospital due to a viral fever. However, Namkung was eventually discharged before the game and demanded to be part of the squad, before going on to score a goal in the match as well.

“The players were extremely motivated. Namkung Woong had only been discharged from the hospital but he was eager to play in the game,” he told Harian Metro.

“But while he did not reach his true heights, Namkung was excellent enough and even scored a goal for us in the game.”

The away side had a better start to the game, with Khairul Amri finding the back of the net in the first half, before Chad Souza netted his first goal of the season to restore parity for Perak.

Namkung then gave Coach Karathu’s side the lead, though Firdaus Kasman’s terrific strike ensured that both sides went home with one point apiece.
